Turkish: Savunmasız Hasta

A vulnerable patient may face added barriers because of age, disability, capacity, language, dependency or circumstances. The relevant duties depend on the particular barrier and legal context.

What Vulnerable Patient means in a Turkish medical case

The review asks what support was reasonably needed for communication, consent, safeguarding, access or continuity and what the provider actually arranged.

Vulnerability should not be used as a vague label. The patient's autonomy remains central, and support must respond to individual needs.

Questions patients often ask

Does vulnerability automatically mean the patient cannot consent?

No. Language, disability, age or dependence can create support needs without removing decision-making capacity. Assess the individual patient's understanding and voluntariness, with appropriate assistance.
